Classroom Menace

I remember my self, meddling with the stones on the shore, building sand castles, watching children play near the water as the sun sets into a peach scarlet. Then, suddenly things start turning grey, and I find wooden stuff all around, stones being the pen I was rotating and mud being the desk I’ve been carving. I then realized, I just had Day dreamed about a warm afternoon in a post lunch class!! Some of my peers were shooting rockets at each other taking the advantage of the teacher’s illusion of a wonderful class. Indeed, these four years have been amongst the most wonderful times, I’ve en lived!
At the outset, our days were full of convivial handshakes, acquainting each other and choosing the clique belonging to ones shades. Then, there were math classes where “unity in diversity” played a potential role on punishments, when failing to do the given assignments! Only epoch that was least wanted was the exam time, as everyone use to be inhabit the bookworm style, when healthy competition used to hit the roof! As coziness and the bond of friendship tightened, we were no less than the African Safari! People still complain of abridged fun, as ours is a girls college. Co-Ed is not all what fun could be, step into our classroom in recess time and you can find unlimited exuberance, much more than you do in a mixed lot. We have lived up to our culture as we have left no festival dreary. Holi is played on every alternative day and the benches serve as hurdle for our childish play! Our President, Mr. Abdul Kalam Sir has rightly said “Intellectual Supremacy can be found amongst 90% of the back-benchers”. So, we do scuffle for them at times when our stomach begins to rumble for food!
Each day n hour, whether good, bad or worse, were worth a mischievous smile on our evergreen faces at the end of the day! Ironically, Evergreen only for classroom fun, quite unusually for a lecture! A “Please Sir!” is a must when its 15 minutes to bell as “unanimity” seems to be the Magical word. An expression of give up, with a cry of ‘You-Immendable-caucus’!! used to be one waiting call to get reloaded!!
As days swept by, we understood our tastes better and drifted across ourselves. A feeling of responsibility had started to roll down our nerves which stroke a chord that we are here to transform into future citizens of our nation. A brain wave which made us stand on our own and helped to look at the world outside our closed doors. Since then, there was no looking back. Yet, the fun never ceased, we endured the joy on every special occasion and each left back an etched rendezvous. Notoriously famous as the noisiest class of our department since the day one, today we stand upright suppressing all our fun with laurels to the institution. This year as we celebrate the decennial elation of our college, and this marks as my tribute to what all the institution has given me. Four glorious years of Reminiscences!
